Bob Gould works with teens and adults in individual and couple therapy. The kind of problems that he works best with include: relationship issues, depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, and difficulties related to serious illness or loss. Seeing therapy as a collaborative process, he is active, straight-forward, and down-to-earth. He tries to use humor judiciously. He gives feedback and encourages his clients to do the same with him. Although people often come to therapy fearful that they might discover “something bad” about themselves, in fact, they usually come away with a greater appreciate of their strengths. Clients often come back to see him years after terminating therapy for some “tune-up sessions” if they are encountering new difficulties or have fallen back into old patterns. Bob Gould’s approach is always pragmatic, finding out what works and what does not.
